What the?

I was looking through my photos and for what ever reason this photo was in there! Not sure why. Not sure where it came from but there it was! Made me laugh! Gotta love the 80′s.

Mid make me think…seems like  a lot of the 80′s trends are making a comeback. Florescent clothes, skinny jeans, bold prints. I’ll see kids walking around the mall who look straight out of  “16 Candles” and it makes me feel old.  Now I’m on the other end of  a trend and it’s a little surreal.

What do you most remember about the 80′s? What 80′s trends that you see you coming back today make you roll your eyes or put a smile on your face becasue you “Oh so missed slap bracelets!”

Check me out in my 80′s glory! See, I was a natural blond once….in the 80′s to be more exact!

And check this out! Back in the 80′s kids actually played out side! I know! Sooooo retro! We used to spend hours out doors just playing! Now that’s something I wish would come back! This is me and my brother and little sister! I wore the mushroom Mrs. Brady haircut for most of the early 80′s!

And I must say…the best thing that came out of th e80′s in my opinion was my baby sister sirca 1984. She’s TOTALLY RAD! Like TOTALLY! And today is her birthday! Love you Boopers! You’re radder then jelly shoes, t-shirt clips, Swatch Watches, high side pony tails and huge bangs!

Love you beautiful baby sister!

Happy Birthday to your sis. I LOVED my jelly shoes, She-Ra, My Little Ponies, slap bracelets, and a good side pony tail. ;)

I have seen all those things recently! I actually bought my daughter a watch that comes with several colored slap bracelet wristbands! And her Nano holder is a slap bracelet too! There was a brief interlude there a couple of years back where legwarmers tried a resurgence, and recently my daughter has been very into ‘layering’ t-shirts! I think it’s funny that there are skinny jeans instead of the way we did it, where you did the fold in and fold up thing to pistol leg (pencil leg) your pants at the ankles! And if you didn’t cut off the circulation in the process, you weren’t doing it right!

My little sister’s nickname is Boopers too!!! So funny. :) I’ve been noticing all the resurfacing 80′s trends as well. Most of them I’m ok with, but I must say I’m still not a fan of the neon colors.

Happy birthday ‘lil sis! :) Jelly shoes. Jelly bracelets. Lace and trampy looks (Thank you Madonna and “Like a Virgin” for that one.) Layers of skirts, shirts and socks. LOTS of colors in the hair (Cyndi Lauper because she’s so un-uuuususal!) Denim (Hello Bruce!) I’m definitely a child of the 80′s- still my favorite music.

OMGOSH HOW FUNNY!!! I was also a child of the 80′s……..and I read the other day that parachute pants were making a comeback this year??????? My backside has expanded so much since high school I need the whole damn parachute now!!!!

Is it bad to say that I remember that there was no good music in the 80s? Well, there just wasn’t. I was in my twenties, and for multiple reasons, including the bangs, these are now known as….the dark years. :) ~Kelly

I was born in the 80s and loooove the trends. They were hideously hilarious. It makes me smile to see them coming back. Skinny jeans and bold prints are my fave :)

OMG! I was watching some sit com the other night, and the teenage daughter came out in those red high-top reeboks! I thought I was going to die!

NOT a fan of skinny jeans…they’re cute with knee high boots, but in me…uh-uh! They just make my butt look twice as big! Don’t miss the big hair! Not one bit!

    Becca,

The hurt comes is I would have been your babysitter in the ’80s. So to hear people talk about the ’60s (when I was born) and the ’70s and about all the cool “retro” things from these years makes me feel older than dirt. I had and played with these things first hand. :(

Oh my gosh, I can totally relate to that first photo – spiral perms & Aqua Net (the bigger, the better). Thanks for the smiles this morning.
Happy Birthday to your beautiful sister.

    Just another “Manic Monday”…..:)

OKAY…totally, like FOR REAL looking forward when “Swatch Watches” and “Banana Clips” make a comback with the Kaepa’s (sp?). I had BIG hair in the 80′s but not that big. LOL!! I loved the 80′s and wouldn’t trade it for anything.

  17. 17

LOL! As a child of the 80′s myself, I can assure you there are several photos of me with BIG hair, too! I tried to confiscate them all. Oh well. :)

Wow. That is truly the worst hair I think I’ve ever seen. lol I keep telling my daughter that Farrah Faucette hair is coming back in style with the big layers on top. You watch it. It will.

oooh, wow! Memories! Yep, loved my jelly shoes and rainbow shirts!
I’m so glad I’m not the only one that can’t get my kiddos to get the heck OUT of the house, too!
    Your sister is gorgeous!
