New Years “WORD!” on Less Cake more Frosting!

New years word! You know…when you pick one word to focus on all year long! Yep! That! WE all love the concept and I am always so interested to hear what words others are focusing on and why aren’t you! Well guess what lucky ducks! Ellie G. of “Less Cake more Frosting” will be featuring bloggers and their “word” for the year! (Squeeeeeeeeeallll!)  So much fun right! All January long you can get inspired by others and their word for the year! Starting New Years day head over to “Less Cake more Frosting” to enjoy her fun series!

Happy News Years EVE!!!! Party like a rock star!

“Us”…my New Years word.

There will never be a more meaningful relationship then the one I have with my husband! I adore this guy and he equally adores me but in any relationship  it takes a lot of work to feel that adoration all the time!  You can’t just wake up every morning and feel like you did when you were dating and shared your first kiss. Love takes meaningful effort, on purpose actions and deliberate attention and that’s why this year I’ll be focusing on the word “Us!”

Two little letters that when put together mean the world to me. “Us!” We never really say that word much if you think about it… “You, me, him, his…” We think about each other as two separate people most of the time but together we are “Us.”

I want to do more for us. I want us to be closer. I want us to go on dates. I want us to be each others biggest fans, loudest cheerleaders and each others soft place to land! So this year I’ll be thinking about ways to keep us in this blissful state we’re in, how to help us grow as a couple and as parents and how to give us more time together! Sound cheesy I know but really I can’t think of a better thing to focus on!

I love focusing on a word each year instead of making a long list of  resolutions I probably won’t keep!So what’s your word to focus on this year?

Felt stack brooch

My felt obsession is taking over! I can’t get enough of great high quality wool felt! This fun brooch was created with thick wool felt, tulle and  a vintage sparkly earring turned embellishment!

Free handed cut felt circles, stacks of burnt tulle and the embellishment are hat glued and stacked! I also added pins on the back.  This was a gift for a sweet friend and I have to admit I was so tempted to keep it! LOVE this color combo!

Felt Works sells the sheets of felt and I bought mine at Hobby Lobby! Not a ton of color selections but the price is great! Grab a handful of some felt and get creating!

Craft Room reveal part 1

Say good by to Green! This craft room is getting a make over and I’m finally ready to let you have a little sneak peek! This has taken me SOOOOO much longer then I ever thought, I blame the holidays but here I am ready to share…. AND no!It’s not done yet but I am getting so excited that I need to share!

You all know my issues with picking paint colors! I SUCK! So it’s no surprise that I went back to Lowe’s 3 times to have them retint my paint! I settles on the darkest color and to be honest I couldn’t tell you what this color is called becasue it’s a combination of THREE! Lets just call it “Craft Room Blue!” After what felt like hours of sanding off the hand painted tuffted buttons and stripes I was ready to paint! And May I add I had to paint the ceiling, walls, floor boards and door! My blisters had blisters!

After a WHOLE lot of this…

I finally had the blue colored room I dreamed of! I used Valspar Signature paint from Lowe’s! Let’s just say the Lowe’s paint department knows me pretty well by now!

Next comes the HUGE task of assembling furniture from IKEA! 3 bookcases, 1 desk, and one dresser to go! And then the organizing! I LOVE this part!

Lowe’s is the perfect head quarters for organization! Baskets, shelving, orgnaization trays! They have it all!

More to come in the great Craft room reveal! Be sure to sign up for the FREE “Lowe’s Creative Ideas Magazine for more ideas on makeovers, organization and inspiration!

Felt Works Felt Flowers

Ok, don’t laugh but I just discovered these darling felt premade flowers and I am in love! Even us crafty type need a shortcut once in awhile!

If you know my middle daughter you know she is obsessed with headbands and hair pretties so when I saw these I snagged all of them and when to work making her some new headbands!

I added some tulle or large netting to a few of them and hot glued them onto a metal headband. For a few bucks each I now have 4 new headbands to give to Blue for Christmas! Gotta love premade helpers right!

These flowers are so thick and well made! I am in love! I think they would be perfect for adorning hats, bags and making into broaches! Sometimes it’s more affordable to buy a premade item and ading your own little touch!

I purchased these flowers at Hobby Lobby and they ranged in price from $3.99-$4.99 a pack.

My Christmas Dream Wish List!

My husband and I don’t exchange gifts at Christmas! Basically becasue we both don’t need anything and we live such a  practical life style that we don’t really splurge on things.  We will treat ourselves to something we want after the holidays but for now we focus on the kids!

It did make me think…What would I ask for if the sky was the limit! If I could have anything and everything I wanted what would that be! It was a hard day dream to think of becasue we never really think nor shop that way but it was fun to think about and this is what I came up with…

My Christmas Dream Wish List!

1. Gorgeous Sea Glass Vases. 2. Fun Yellow High Heels! 3. Silver Flower Ring from Tiffany’s. 4.  Love this gray and orange outfit. 5. Individual Pie Maker from William Sonoma. 6.
