ReStore Vintage Tile Coasters

Have you guys heard of  Habitat for Humanities ReStore? It’s an amazing place to find project supplies and items for home projects!

My local ReStore is chuck full of amazing finds! Salvaged doors for $5, closet doors for $5, hardware, drawers, and tile!

A few months back I went looking for tile for my kitchen back splash. While looking through the endless selection of tile I came across a box of salvages vintage green tile that I fell in LOVE with! There wasn’t enough for my kitchen project but for 50 cents a square foot I just couldn’t leave them behind! I gathered them up and took them home hoping that a project would come to mind sooner then later!

Well, I still haven’t thought of the perfect project but in the mean time I wanted to put them to work. Why not create a set of coasters in the mean time.

Because these were salvaged tiles and removed from a home, they each have left over grout on the edges.

A little sand paper is all it takes to get the grout off!

Add a little felt and adhere with hot glue…

Sweet! Coasters For 11 cents each! I’ll co-sign that all day long!

Salvage discount stores like the ReStore are a gold mind! Check to see if you have  one near you and get shopping already!

So HELP!!! What should I do with the rest of my vintage tile stash?

P.s. That yummy drink I have in my glass is Ocean Spray White Cran-Peach and it’s beyond delish! Favorite Summer drink hands down!

Oh my gosh! My friend and I made these over 15 years ago!! I totally forgot about this project……oh and I just went to our Re Store for the first time a week ago and it is wonderful. The only problem I had is that nothing was marked there for a price so we had no idea how much anything was. But the possibilities there were endless….:)

These are so cute. I’ve always wondered what to do with all the pretty tiles you find there. I love Habitat Restore. I have found so many great pieces of furntiure there to redo.

You could actually top that entire blue bench your coaster is sitting on and paint it to match the tiles!

Sweet! I didn’t know that Habitat had these types of stores. I crossed my fingers that they would have one so far up north in MN but guess what they did! It will surely be a stop when I’m furnishing my house someday…or perhaps even this weekend…if they have molding I could make some sweet frames…

OH those are LOVELY and what a GREAT find that is…The Coasters are a wonderful idea…I think with the rest of the Tiles you should make a Serving Tray either Tile an plain wood one or make one from scratch… Doesn’t that sound LOVELY… : )
Can’t wait to see what you come up with..

Love the ReStore! I always find stuff to bring home when I stop by. Love those tiles – they make such pretty coasters! Can’t wait to see what else you do with them.

Those are such pretty tiles – I would’ve taken them home too. I agree with some of the other suggestions: a tiled tray or tile the top of a table.

I have never heard of the restore before. I am so glad you posted this cuz I just found several near me. I will be checking them out soon to see what goods I can find. Plus those coasters are adorable.

Make a tiled trivet, or a tray. Here’s a couple of things I made:
