Pencil Sketches by Naptime Crafter

Have you seen those adorable pencil sketch portraits? I’ve always loved them, but we definitely can’t afford one. So… I came up with this super simple substitute.

Ready to get started? Here’s what you need:

  • Paint.net- if you don’t have it you can download it for free (love that!) right here
  • Picture (one with a white background will work best)
  • Printer
  • Frame

1. Open your photo up in paint.net. Go to Effects-Artistic-Pencil Sketch

2. Now you can play around with the settings. I ended up doing 15 for both Tip Size and Range.

3. Doesn’t it look fantastic?! Now just print it out- it looks best on photo paper, but plain would work too. Or… you could go develop it. I printed mine out at home as a 5×7″

4. Finish it off with a cute little frame. Mine makes me smile every time I walk by:)

Nap Time Crafters
I love every type of craft and try to make the most of naptime everyday. I’ve posted lots of fun tutorials, so you can have a happy naptime and skip all the mistakes I made:) You’ll find tutorials for baby clothes, toys, home decor and much more- you can even submit your own tutorial! Happy crafting:)
