Freaky Friday: "Shabby Chic Cottage!"

Welcome to Freaky Friday! It’s that time of the week again where we get to meet a new and fabulous blog and creator! It’s my pleasure to have Gina from Shabby Chic Cottage here with us today! I’m sure you’ll see why I adore her so much!!! Take it away Gina!

Hi y’all! I’m Gina from The Shabby Chic Cottage. I am thrilled to be hanging out here at Blue Cricket Design today. I’ve got my coffee and I’m ready to have a little chat about decorating.
In our spray paint-lovin’ world, we like to change things quickly. Really quickly – hence the admiration of Krylon & Rustoleum. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE getting things done in a snap, but every now and then I have to remind myself to slow down and enjoy the process.

Meet my paint brush – a silicone grip, 3/4 inch, soft bristled brush. I shall call her Madeline. She’s my favorite….. shhhh… don’t tell my other brushes. Madeline and I spent a long time together, painting that sunflowered chair. We became best friends.

See, Madeline is a miracle worker. It took a long time, but I slowed down and enjoyed the process of painting, watching each stroke of clearance rack cream transform the chair into something worthy of gracing my dining room. Better, no?

Madeline has helped me on quite a few projects around my house, she’s my little side kick in helping me fill up my Etsy shop with all sorts of new goodies and finish little jobs around the house. Although we’ve been busy, she taught me to do things at a slower pace, working as the wood… or paper… or whatever… wanted to go. Enjoying those moments relaxes me and brings a peace to my soul.

Thanks again to Becca for letting me hang out here today!

Thanks Gina!!!We all need that reminder to enjoy the process a little more now don’t we! Be sure to go and check out all the other fun projects Gina has! You won’t regret it!

I almost always prefer to use a brush. I find that I personally take more pride and feel more accomplishment that way. Although, spray paint can make quick work of knobs, handles, screws, etc…

You're right Gina. So many times we get caught up in instant gratification that we forget to slow down and enjoy the process of the transformation itself. Even a catepillar takes his time to show his true beauty.
