Counting Down & a mini give away…

There is quite the exiting buzz over here in our house! 19 more days ’till Kindergarten starts and off my little Chicken goes (wipe a tear! Shout Hooray!!!) It’s all we can do to not camp out on the front porch and wait for the School Bus to pull up!

While we wait in agony why not put that anxious energy to work! I love little hands at work!

Count down chains are the best! I remember making them in high school to count down till Christmas breaks or in College to count down ’till the next time I was going to drive 4 hours to see my boyfriend! Everyone loves a good count down chain! Even grown ups. But for an over excited Kindergartner it’s just what she needs to see how much longer ’till the
biggest “First day” EVER!!!

Slowly but surely this beautifully colored chain will lose it’s rings as it inches it’s way closer to August 26th! I have mixed emotions about all this!!! I’ve grown quite found to the little
darling who crafted it so well. She see’s it as a reminder of when her journey starts… I see
it as a reminder of how few days I have left to be her biggest protector and mother hen.
I know!! I know!!!!

On a happier note…

here’s a little
Sneaky Peeky!!!

Just a few random ideas off the top of my head…reversible headbands, darling green tote/grocery bag, or what about some darling burp cloths by putting some fabric on the back of some chenille.

how about hair scrunchies…i saw them at the childrens place yesterday i think they might be coming back in style for littler girls or use two and make small drawstring handbags, actually I'd probably just use one piece fold it in half right sides together sew it make a casing at top and put a rope string through…tada a simple small date size hand bag or child size hand bag you can maybe even add some decorations a gem, flower or applique. And you could maybe even cut the fabric to a bit of a more curved shape before you sew up the side, it might give it more of a purse look…I'd try both ways and decide.

Yup I think that's my favorite idea! In fact I think I might even try one myself!

I made this darling little flower box for Lucy's room with cloth flowers glued onto dowels, with one of those small crystal marble looking things glued into the center. It turned out so cute (I'll have to send you a picture) anyway, after I was done I really wished I had made it into a window box. How darling would that be? Then I decided not so darling because Lucy can reach the bottom of her window so it would be destroyed within minutes. So there's my idea, window flower boxes :)

I just made the cutest little bag from the Moda BakeShop. I wanted something bigger, so I played around with it a bit. Now I have something fresh to hold my camera, phone and wallet.

I wish I could think of something. I am wracking my brain here because I NEED those.
I will have to brainstorm a little more. Well…A LOT more.

I just wanted to say…That's the cutest countdown chail I have ever seen! I'm totally not just saying that, either. I love it. The paper is so darling!
I made a countdown chain for my husband to countdown to our wedding. hahah…That was a long one. If only I would have had some cute paper to go with it!

I think some of those prints would make some adorable belts! Lately I've been making superhero capes out of plain fat quarters. Recover something…ugly magnets or your mousepad (using modpodge maybe).

    Good luck and have fun!

How about little purses or bags for your girls. They are SUPER easy to make and SUPER cute and the kids will think you are the greatest mom on earth! (not that they don't already!) You can use them for Church bags or Library bags or whatever.

A first day of school skirt for sure! I'm on a skirt kick lately…

I like these sandwich bags made of fabric to use instead of ziploc bags. They are starting to sell them at many places. Also recently saw some fabric flowers in Martha Stewart craft book that looked beautiful. Framed fabric art is also nice. (Framing hearts, flowers, animal shapes, etc…)

Maybe make a game of Memory (the matching game) with fabric? Attach circles or squares of fabric to cardstock. I am going to make this for a friend of mine's little girl with leftover fabric scraps that I have. Just a thought :)
